Dawn Mikkelson and Melissa Koch's The Red Tail will have its international premier at the 21st Galway Film Fleadh in Galway, Ireland on July 11. "We are thrilled to share this film with an international audience in Galway as our first screening outside the United States," says Melissa. According to Felim MacDermott, Festival Programmer for Galway Film Fleadh, "These are the days that a programmer is besieged by documentaries that explain the financial crisis that our world has found itself in. Your documentary [The Red Tail] managed to illustrate the effect greed has against communities, families and a man's dignity in such a wonderful manner, congratulations." The film follows Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) member Roy Koch (Melissa's father) from his days as a striking NWA aircraft mechanic to his new role as a traveling detective who investigates where his job went. Louise Woehrle and her brother John returned from the Waterfront Film Festival in Saugatuck, MI where her film Pride of Lions screened. She says,"It is a filmmakers festival. We were flown in and put up at a groovy hotel on the water. Turns out our film had 2 screenings with great turnouts, and my brother and I were panelists for the 'Docs That Rock' seminar along with Academy Award doc director Sue Marx and the producers of 'Pulling John,'" and adds, "I'm finishing up another feature doc (as the producer) with director Mara Pelecis, Shared Souvenirs that will be ready for screening in the fall."
