About Legacy Pictures, Inc. Founder & Owner CHRISTOPHER HARMON:
How does producer Christopher Harmon describe the importance of filmmaking in his life? "I've found a way to speak again," says the man who has overcome rare challenges to become not only a filmmaker, but a recently self-published author.  Harmon has multiple disabilities resulting from a little-known neurological condition that was diagnosed when he was almost eight. Originally believed to be terminal, the progressively degenerative disorder has rendered him deaf, legally blind, quadriplegic and dependent on a respirator. Due to the combined effects of hearing loss and a tracheotomy, he has no voice.  Harmon was a prisoner of silence until he discovered the power of imagination. His films and books have become the gateway between Harmon and the "normal" world: a way for him to once again have a voice.

Harmon is the founder and owner of Legacy Pictures, Inc. in Burnsville, Minnesota. The company is dedicated to the development and production of quality family entertainment. Harmon's first film is "Sparkle, Serena!" This feature length musical, which he co-authored with the NYC based screenwriter Doug Klozzner, is currently seeking financial backing for production. Echoing Harmon's own lifelong struggle to overcome his disabilities, "Sparkle, Serena!" brings to life a classic family tale that spotlights the empowerment of the indomitable Human spirit.

FILMMAKER CALL FOR ENTRIES

Homegrown Cinema Series Seeks Local Features for 2nd Run at the Parkway
The Home Grown Cinema Series showcases the best in Twin Cities-produced film. The debut series at the Parkway Theater in Minneapolis included eight locally-produced feature films and was so successful the Parkway has requested another series be organized for September 2008. The Home Grown series is unique in that the filmmakers share in the box office receipts each night. The series is a way for filmmakers to not only gain exposure, but also to earn money for all of their hard work.

The Home Grown Team is looking for submissions for the September series. There is no deadline to be considered for the series, but the sooner we receive your film, the better chance it has of being included. We are especially looking for films that can premiere at the September series. The Home Grown Series is an excellent option for a premiere screening: we have a promotional team that can supplement your own promotion, a theater who cares about your screening, and the box office receipts will be split with the filmmaker. This means you will not have to rent a theater from a management team that will do nothing to support your screening.

At this time we are only accepting feature-length films and music videos. If you have any questions about whether your film qualifies for one of these categories, feel free to contact us. If you have a film you would like considered for inclusion in the series, send a DVD screener copy to:
Jason Mitchell
1105 W 28th St #302
Minneapolis, MN 55408

You can also drop off your DVD in person at the Uptown Theater (c/o Joe) or the St. Anthony Main Theater (c/o Ray) during regular business hours. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at homegrownfilms@gmail.com or at our Myspace page at: myspace.com/homegrowncinema Thanks for your help in making the series so successful, and we hope to see you at the Parkway in September.

Black Dog Cafe Screening Series Call for Entries
The Black Dog Cafe, 308 Prince St. in Saint Paul, is a cafe and wine bar dedicated to the promotion of artists and of community. Located in the heart of the Lowertown artists quarter, we continually strive to find new ways to get people together, share ideas, and enjoy life. Currently, we are looking for film makers and video artists that would be interested in showing their work. Since variety is the spice of life, we will accept for approval: narratives, documentaries, and experimental works; as well they may be feature length pieces or shorts. However, works over 90 minutes will probably be less accepted. Likewise, works under 20 minutes will be subject to being shown only in pairings, and thus harder to show unless others of that length are submitted. As well, this is a family environment (though a fairly liberal one), so we will be less approving of showing anything of a questionable nature.

Screenings are set to start each Sunday at 7:00 p.m. and are advertised in house the week before they are shown. So far, we've been getting a nice turnout and have shown some really interesting pieces. We would like that trend to continue. If you are interested, please respond as soon as possible. Thanks and I hope to hear from you! howyoureachme@hotmail.com or call: 651-228-9274 and ask for Chad or leave a message
