McKnight Artist Fellowship for Screenwriters

IFP Minnesota is please to announce the 2008 Mcknight Artist Fellowships for Screenwriters. The fellowships honor the professional and artistic accomplishments of Minnesota artists writing for the screen as demonstrated by one competed feature-length screenplay. The program recognizes mid-career Minnesota screenwriters by providing financial assistance, professional encouragement, and recognition.

IFP MN and The McKnight Foundation will award two $25,000 fellowships to Minnesota screenwriters in 2008. The Fellows’ and finalists’ names will be provided to professional literary agents, as well as the Fellowship's Advisory Board made up of industry professionals.

Fellows are selected by two panels of film artists and industry professionals from outside the state of Minnesota. IFP MN will notify finalists for the fellowship at the end of April 2008. IFP MN will announce the winning Fellows in June 2008. Jurors will evaluate and rate the following aspects of each screenplay: originality of ideas, uniqueness of writer's voice, skillful story structure, talent with creating dialogue, and talent with character development.
